Organisation profile: Vardheia ungdomsskule is a modern, public lower secondary school located in Bryne, Norway, serving 370 students (ages 13–16). Established in 2021 as a unique 50/50 collaboration between Time and Klepp municipalities, the school is built upon three pillars: Practical, Creative, and Digital. It features state-of-the-art facilities, including industrial-grade workshops, a dedicated gaming room for game-based learning, and a fully digitized 1:1 learning environment where all 45 teachers are certified Apple Teachers.

The school offers the full Norwegian secondary curriculum with a strong focus on interdisciplinary themes such as democracy, citizenship, public health, and sustainable development. Vardheia serves as an ideal pilot environment for DC4Democracy, offering a real-world setting where digital competence is deeply embedded in daily pedagogy. Within the project, the school acts as a pilot partner in WP5, providing authentic testing ground for the consortium’s tools, while also contributing to WP2 (field review) and WP7 (dissemination) to share findings across Norwegian school networks.
